Thank you for your interest in the University of California (UC), San Diego Health PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics specialty residency. All of the residency programs at UC San Diego Health are either ASHP-accredited or in the process of seeking ASHP accreditation, and are fully committed to providing residents with a supportive learning environment and opportunities for professional growth.  Residents accepted into the UC San Diego Health PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics specialty residency program will work as fulltime members of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Medication Process team.  The Informatics resident will receive formal Epic EHR training and will be expected to obtain an Epic training designation of “proficient.”  This residency program provides experience in the maintenance and optimization of the EHR, at all stages of the solution development life cycle, including identifying issues, prototyping, planning, designing, building, testing, validating, training, implementing, and monitoring.  The resident will design and implement solutions to resolve the incidents and requests reported by users, as well as new projects, covering the entire medication management process, including  ordering, pharmacist verification, dispensing, documentation, and billing of medications. Additional learning opportunities include clinical decision support, e-prescribing, reporting, interfaces, retail pharmacy systems, and more.
