Express Care Available Near You

A: Express Care provides same-day or next-day care for minor injuries and illnesses, including colds, coughs, sore throat, fever, ear infections, rashes or minor sprains.  

If you can’t get in to see your primary care provider right away, visit Express Care at UC San Diego Health. You can even save your spot online to save time.

A: Both services at UC San Diego Health are open seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. Come in when you can’t wait for an appointment with your primary care doctor. Both offer fast, on-site testing for many conditions.

Express Care  

• Best for minor illnesses and injuries that need same-day or next-day attention, including colds, coughs, sore throat, fever, ear infections, rashes or minor sprains.  
• Open to patients 6 months and older 
• Can save your spot online to reduce wait time 
• X-ray services at most locations 
• Video visits for adults and basic wellness services  
• Several convenient Express Care locations around San Diego County 

Urgent Care 

• A good option when you don’t have an emergency but need care within 24 hours for a wider range of conditions, including abdominal pain, allergic reactions, animal bites, moderate fractures, cuts that may need stitches, skin infections and more 
• Open to patients of all ages 
• Can walk in or save your spot online to reduce wait time 
• On-site X-ray and lab testing services at our only Urgent Care location in La Jolla

A: Video visits are available for adults with certain medical conditions. Learn more and schedule your video visit now.
