Michelle Ziemba, RN, MSN
Chief Administrative Officer, Neurological Institute, Psychiatry and Imaging
Michelle Ziemba is the chief administrative officer overseeing neurology, neurological surgery, psychiatry, radiology, ophthalmology, and rehabilitation services across UC San Diego Health. She is responsible for the day-to-day hospital and clinical operations of these service areas, partnering closely with the department chairs and physicians to implement strategic priorities and initiatives that improve patient care.
She is a highly accomplished health care professional with more than 15 years in health care leadership, program development and hospital operations. Prior to her current role, she was the senior director for the Neurological Institute, Rehabilitation Services, Level 1 Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center. In her previous position, Ms. Ziemba oversaw the opening of nine new clinic sites and significantly increased new patient access to our clinics. Before coming to UC San Diego Health, Ms. Ziemba served as the associate vice president for trauma, emergency and perioperative services at the University of Arizona Medical Center.
As a leader who is passionate about implementing health care models that improve patient access to care, Ms. Ziemba served on the Wisconsin and Arizona state boards for trauma system development and worked as an international consultant implementing telehealth services and trauma systems in the Balkans in Europe.
She has authored several publications and delivered over 20 distinguished lectures across the country. Throughout her career, Ms. Ziemba has been involved in many professional organizations. She is currently a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Association of Academic Surgical Administrators.
Ms. Ziemba is very proud to be a registered nurse. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and a master of science degree in nursing - Advanced Clinical Practice Nurse Practitioner, from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
