What’s Appendiceal Cancer?

Appendiceal cancer is a rare cancer. It occurs when cells in the appendix grow unusual tissue known as a tumor. A tumor can spread to other body parts and be cancerous or noncancerous (benign).

Symptoms of Appendix Cancer

Not everyone with appendix cancer experiences symptoms. Talk to your doctor if you experience:

  • Bloating
  • Discomfort or pain in your stomach area or the right side of the pelvis
  • Increase in the size of your waist

Types of Appendix Cancers We Treat

We treat all types of tumors in the appendix, including:

  • Adenocarcinoids: An aggressive combination of adenocarcinomas and carcinomas
  • Adenocarcinomas: A rare, aggressive kind of appendix tumor
  • Carcinoid tumors, also known as neuroendocrine tumors: The most common type of appendix tumor which grows slowly and often goes undetected for many years
