Social Workers
Social workers are available to our patients and their caregivers, from diagnosis through treatment.
Our team members are all licensed clinical social workers with experience in cancer care. They can provide you with psychological, social, emotional, spiritual and practical support.
Services
Serious illness can be draining emotionally, physically and financially. Our social workers can help you and your caregiver with a range of issues that are common to patients and families.
This includes:
- Brief and supportive counseling
- Adjustment to illness
- Crisis intervention
- Assessment, stabilization and referral
- Liaison for community resources
- End-of-life issues
- Quality of life issues
- Family meetings
- Patient education
- Mediation
- Coping skills
- Communication with your healthcare team
Referral Information
If you are interested in meeting with a Moores Cancer Center social worker, ask your doctor or nurse for a referral. Social workers are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, except holidays. Services are free.
