Emergency Department Nurse Externship Specialty
Environmental Characteristics:
- Fast-paced and unpredictable: Every shift brings a new set of challenges. You'll encounter a wide variety of medical conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies.
- High-pressure environment: You'll need to think critically and make quick decisions under pressure, often in chaotic and unpredictable situations.
- High-stakes care: You'll be responsible for stabilizing patients with critical injuries and illnesses, sometimes performing life-saving interventions.
- Teamwork-oriented: You'll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. Each team member has a specific role but there is fluidity in responsibility due to the nature of the unit.
