A New Home for UC San Diego Internal Medicine Group

The new office may be just a stone’s throw away from its original location at UC San Diego Medical Center, La Jolla, but it’s a whole new world of potential for the UC San Diego Internal Medicine Group. 

On April 21, 2008, UCSD Internal Medicine Group, La Jolla, opened the doors of a new suite of offices, at 8939 Villa La Jolla Drive, San Diego, just off the I-5 freeway.  The building sits very near several popular restaurants and office complexes, across La Jolla Village Drive from the University of California, San Diego main campus. 

“We have well-established, long-term relationships with our patients,” said Joe W. Ramsdell, M.D., Division Head/Professor of Clinical Medicine.  “This move enhances that through more convenient access for patients, a facility with only the latest in technology and design, and expanded service to the community at large.”

Ramsdell leads a team of more than a dozen highly qualified physicians who are experts in many areas, such as geriatric medicine, pain management, palliative care and internal medicine.  Several in the group have been repeatedly recognized by their peers in San Diego Magazine’s annual “Top Doctors” issue.

The diverse group of men and women speaks more than ten different languages and graduated from the nation’s finest medical schools, but all are governed by the same philosophy of patient centered healthcare.

“We like to know our patients,” said Ramsdell.  “A personal rapport is critical to how we approach each individual.  Understanding our patients, getting to know them, is critical to meeting their healthcare needs.”
