Laundry

Bannister Family House provides an in-house laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers at no cost. Guests must provide their own soaps and fabric softeners.

Laundry

Washers and dryers are located in the breezeways on floors 1, 2, 4 and 6 at the La Jolla Family House. The cost is $1.25 per wash load and $1.00 per dryer cycle. Guests can pay with quarters or by using the Speed Queen app.

Airflow and Fans

Our modern building design is optimized for airflow, and therefore, La Jolla Family House rooms do not have in-room air conditioning. However, the rooms are equipped with ceiling fans and tower fans. Additional fans may be requested at the front desk, based on availability.

Resources and Support

Fresh Bagels Provided by our local Einstein Bros. of Hillcrest, Leftover bagels are stored in the plastic bins near the toaster. Be sure to check the community refrigerator for cream cheese and butter to enjoy.
Weekly Food Items Each house receives a weekly food order from UC San Diego Health Nutrition Services. On Wednesdays, you can expect items such as eggs, milk, produce, bread and sandwich fixings. In addition, each house has a pantry that is often stocked with pasta, sauces, soups and baking ingredients. Items may fluctuate based on donations received from our generous partners and volunteers.

Transportation You can use ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft, or call San Diego Yellow Cab at 619-444-4444 or 858-444-4444.
