Family Houses: How to Help
The Family Houses at UC San Diego Health provide a home away from home for families of patients in critical or long-term care. There are many ways you can support our mission and help families feel at home during their stay.
Volunteer at Our Golf Tournament
Volunteers play an important role at our annual golf tournament. You can help with guest registration, set up and sell tickets for our raffle, host a hole, greet guests and more!
Make a Monetary Donation
Donations are vital so that we may continue to provide a "home away from home" for families with a loved one in the hospital. Donations can be made directly to Bannister Family House, La Jolla Family House, or in honor of an individual (Tax ID #95-2872494).
Give to Our Families
Our Adopt-a-Family program helps families in need pay for our nightly fees so that they can concentrate on what matters most — their loved one in the hospital.

Our families appreciate the small comforts of home while staying with us. Check out our Amazon wish lists for items to help our homes away from home feel even more welcoming.
Host a Meal
Coming home to a warm meal brightens the day for our guests. Through hosted meals, families have a chance to connect and share their feelings and experiences with others staying at the house and the people providing the meal.
On-Site Meals
You are welcome to cook and serve breakfast, lunch or dinner for our families! Complete our Host a Meal (HAM) forms at the links below and return them so we can place you on the calendar. Please let us know a few dates/times you are interested in.
Once your HAM schedule has been confirmed, we will post signage letting all the guests know you are providing the meal. We would also love to take photos of you in action when you are on-site and post them on social media.
Meal Drop-Off
We also accept restaurant-prepared meals and premade meals (Costco, Smart & Final, etc.) delivered to the front door of our family houses. Please call 619-543-7977 to schedule a meal drop-off.
