Good News for Patients With Blue Shield of California Insurance Plans

We are pleased to share that Blue Shield of California and UC Health — which includes UC San Diego Health — have reached agreement on a new contract that will preserve access to UC San Diego Health physicians, hospitals and clinics through Blue Shield’s provider network. Blue Shield and UC Health will finalize the details in the coming weeks.

We are grateful that this development means no disruption in care for our patients, and your UC San Diego Health care team will remain in network.

If you are a Blue Shield HMO member and received a notice from Blue Shield about a change in your primary care physician, rest assured, Blue Shield is reassigning patients back to their UC San Diego Health provider. A communication from Blue Shield will be sent out soon with this information. No action is needed on your part, and you may continue to access services at UC San Diego Health as usual.
