Our clinic focuses on treating solid-tumor cancers that are among the most difficult to treat, including:
UC San Diego Health offers immunotherapy as a standard treatment for several types of metastatic cancer. For patients who may benefit from emerging therapies, our Precision Immunotherapy Clinic provides access to clinical trials and research studies exploring the next generation of immunotherapies. Some of the investigational therapies available include:
Checkpoint inhibitors: Block cancer’s ability to evade immune detection, allowing the immune system to attack tumors
CAR T-cell therapy: Reprograms a patient’s own immune cells to seek out and destroy cancer cells, currently being studied for certain blood cancers
Tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy: Expands a patient’s natural immune cells in a lab before reinfusing them to enhance their ability to fight cancer
Cancer Vaccines: Train the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells; available through select trials
Oncolytic Virus Therapy: Uses modified viruses that infect and kill cancer cells while triggering a stronger immune response
Neoantigen-Based Therapies: Personalized treatments that identify unique tumor mutations to develop targeted vaccines or T-cell therapies
Our research-driven approach ensures that patients receive the most advanced treatments before they become widely available.
If you have a solid-tumor cancer that is not responding to standard treatment, you may be eligible to participate in an immunotherapy clinical trial.
