Germ cell tumors include most kinds of testicular cancer as well as extragonadal germ cell tumors.
These are relatively rare tumors. If managed early and correctly, these cancers may be curable in about 90 percent of patients.
Rare Tumor Clinic, UC San Diego Health offers highly specialized care for these tumors, including therapy by medical oncologists and surgeons who have extensive experience with these tumors and work closely to give the best treatment to each patient. These tumors often require complex surgeries. Our surgical oncologists are highly experienced with the extensive vascular repair required.
For patients with advanced or recurring disease, we have extensive experience with high-dose chemotherapy, including the use of stem cell support.
