How to Help: Donate to UC San Diego Health COVID-19 Emergency Response

UCSD Employees with PPE

Join us in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we can play an important role in addressing this emergency and helping those affected by it.

There are many ways you can help.

Support Our Frontline Caregivers – Double Your Impact with a Gift Today

Thanks to a generous $350,000 challenge grant from The Conrad Prebys Foundation, we have the opportunity to come together and double our impact, as we prepare for the pandemic’s peak.

Today, for every dollar you give to the UC San Diego COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, a dollar will be matched by the foundation, up to $350,000.

Cash donations let us respond as quickly as possible to this fast-changing situation to protect the ongoing safety of our community and health care workers.

Donate Protective Equipment (PPE) and Supplies

COVID-19: How to Donate

Thank you all for your generous interest in donating needed equipment and supplies. We are very appreciative. Due to the high number of people contacting us, our response times may be impacted. Please be aware that not all donations of masks and other supplies will be suitable for clinical use.

While UC San Diego Health is successfully managing its supplies as responsible stewards of its resources, we are asking all researchers and relevant facilities, individuals and organizations to help alleviate the shortage in San Diego by making key equipment and medical-grade materials available to UC San Diego Health.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) are critically important, specifically:

  • Medical-grade procedure and surgical masks only. We are not accepting hand-sewn face coverings or masks.
  • N95 respirators – only 3M branded models 1870+ or 8210
  • Surgical and isolation / protective gowns
  • Arm sleeves
  • Goggles, safety glasses and face shields

How to Deliver Needed Equipment and Supplies

To donate medical-grade equipment and supplies, you can:

  • Physically drop off items at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest, located at 200 West Arbor Drive. (See map.) Please contact Carlos Olvera first to schedule a drop-off, Monday through Friday at
  • Ship donated items:

Donated Goods Form for Tax Deduction

Donated items are tax deductible. Please include a copy of the Donated Goods Form with your donation. If donating through a web service such as Amazon, include donor contact information (name, address, phone number and email) in the gift message box and UC San Diego Health will send back a completed tax receipt.

Sponsor Meals or Groceries for Caregivers

Thank the health care heroes of UC San Diego Health working tirelessly to protect the San Diego community by:

  • Sponsoring take-home meals or groceries for team members who may be having difficulty accessing needed meals or food supplies. Your monetary donation will be applied directly to meals and grocery items in our hospital cafeterias that employees can take home for themselves and their families. Donate to this fund online.

And, thank you, again! We are deeply touched and appreciative of the outpouring of community support.
