86 UCSD Physicians Named Best Doctors in San Diego County in 32 Specialties

Eighty-six physicians at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine were named in San Diego Magazine’s “Physicians of Exceptional Excellence” survey. More UCSD physicians were rated as “Top Docs” in San Diego County than any other medical group.

“This recognition illustrates what our patients already know – the best physicians in the region are faculty at UC San Diego,” said David Brenner, vice chancellor of UC San Diego Health Sciences and dean of the UCSD School of Medicine. “Beyond their professional expertise, our physicians take exceptional care of people and provide the very best and compassionate patient care available.”

The “top docs” are named each year by their physician peers, who are members of the San Diego County Medical Society. Members are asked to vote for board-certified physicians practicing in San Diego County to whom they would refer their own patients and family members.

“Our physicians are thought leaders in their specialties and attract patients from across the country to UC San Diego Health System,” said Health System CEO Thomas Jackiewicz. “It is truly an honor to work with doctors who are ranked on a local level by their peers, as well as on a national level by prestigious organizations.”

“We are extremely proud of these UCSD physicians, who not only treat patients throughout San Diego County today, but also train the physicians of tomorrow,” added Thomas McAfee, MD, dean of clinical affairs for UC San Diego Health Sciences.
