Our certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) provide family-centered maternity care, along with well-woman care, family planning and other services. They practice at clinics throughout San Diego, with an emphasis on education and involving women in their own care.
The midwives at UC San Diego Health are dedicated to providing personal, one-on-one attention to ensure the birth experience you desire.
Nurse-midwives deliver babies in our holistic Birth Center rooms or in a traditional Labor & Delivery environment — the choice is up to you.
Low-risk patients can choose to deliver in a Birth Center room, where we support the natural birth experience with minimal medical invention that many women desire.
Midwife patients have the option to participate in our Centering Pregnancy Program, a form of prenatal care that combines individual medical appointments with group-based education and support.
Our nurse-midwives believe in personal, education-focused care and giving women empowering choices. To see what that means, watch our videos or read testimonials from our patients.
Because every pregnancy is different, you may have questions about whether you can receive care from a midwife, if you can deliver in our Birth Center rooms, or how our services are billed. Check our FAQ page for detailed explanations.
