You can schedule same-day or next-day video appointments by phone or online:
You can now get quality care for minor health concerns without leaving home. Try the convenience of UC San Diego Health's Express Care video visit right from your computer, smartphone or tablet.
Connect virtually with an experienced board-certified nurse practitioner or physician assistant to get expert diagnosis, treatment and prescriptions for a variety of
symptoms and conditions, including cough, fever, red eye and minor burns.
We are open seven days a week. Express Care video visits are available
only for patients 18 years or older.
Key Benefits of Virtual Appointments
- Express Care video visits are available 7 days a week from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.(Closed: 12–1 p.m. for lunch, and on
UC San Diego holidays.)
- No referral is needed, but you need to make an appointment.
- You can pay with your health insurance plan or use "cash pay."
Who Can Use Express Care Video Visits?
Emergency Care
If you have a life-threatening injury or another medical emergency,
call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.
Our
ER locations in San Diego County are open 24 hours every day.
You must be 18 years or older to get virtual care via Express Care video visits. You get the same excellent service that you've come to expect from our walk-in
Express Care clinics.
A friend or family member can join you during the telehealth appointment, but they must be physically in the same room as you. Please let your provider know who else is present during your visit.
If you'd rather be seen in person or need Express Care for a child, walk into a clinic or
save your spot online.
When to Choose Us for Virtual Care
Get expert diagnosis and virtual treatment for several minor health conditions via Express Care video visits if you're experiencing the following symptoms or conditions:

Language services: Interpreters are available to join video visits. You don't need to arrange this in advance. Simply ask your provider to invite an interpreter to join the call.
Prescriptions & Video Visits
Our Express Care nurse practitioners or physician assistants can write you a prescription as needed and send it electronically to your pharmacy. However, they can't prescribe controlled substances through this telemedicine service.
Paying for Express Care Video Visits
We accept insurance or cash pay for Express Care video visits. The cash pay price is $49 — you can pay by credit or debit card.
