Our multidisciplinary team is committed to supporting your emotional and physical recovery, whether you’re dealing with mild, severe or life-threatening burn injuries.

Pediatric & Adult Burn Center
Look to UC San Diego Health for high-quality care that meets American Burn Association (ABA) and American College of Surgeons (ACS) national requirements. Our burn center is the only one in the region to be verified by the two groups as a pediatric and adult burn center.
Expect us to provide the best possible care, recovery, rehabilitation and support for people who sustained burns and associated wounds. We care for all residents of San Diego and Imperial counties who have experienced major or minor burns and critical soft tissue conditions. Each year, our team treats approximately 400 patients, including infants and children, and hundreds more on an outpatient basis in the burn clinics.

Inpatient vs. Outpatient Care
Depending on the severity of your burn, you may need the following:
- Inpatient care: Stay in the hospital overnight or longer for treatment, monitoring, and pain management.
- Outpatient care: Return home after visiting the facility for care and treatment.
