Colorectal Surgery

UC San Diego Health offers expert diagnosis and treatment of common, complex and rare conditions of the colon, rectum and anus. Our surgeons work in multidisciplinary teams to treat colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel diseases, diverticular disease and pelvic floor disorders.

Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery

Our surgeons are skilled in advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques. We incorporate single-incision techniques, hand-assisted surgery, robotics and transanal approaches to provide the best care to our patients. Read about recent breakthroughs in minimally invasive colorectal surgery.

Robotic Colorectal Surgery

We are the only team in San Diego performing robotically assisted minimally invasive colorectal surgery.

We also offer transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS). The procedure combines single-incision laparoscopic methods with transanal endoscopic microsurgery. We treat many colorectal diseases using the TAMIS approach, and train surgeons on this advanced treatment method.
