Men's Reproductive & Sexual Health
Your sexual and reproductive health is integral to your physical and emotional well-being. We established the Men's Health Center in La Jolla for men like you.
Whether you're having trouble conceiving, struggling with low libido or dealing with frequent urination, look to us for expert urologic care. We offer the most comprehensive spectrum of health care for adult men of any age.
Trust us because UC San Diego Health's urology services are repeatedly ranked among the top 50 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
What Is a Men's Health Specialist?
A men's health specialist is a provider with unique expertise in the anatomy, function and diseases of the male reproductive system (testes, prostate and penis).
Our men's health specialists at UC San Diego Health include board-certified, fellowship-trained urologists and a physician assistant.
Our team can accurately diagnose and successfully treat the full spectrum of men's sexual health conditions, including male infertility, Peyronie's disease, erectile dysfunction, low libido and enlarged prostate.
When Should You See a Doctor?
In the same way that a woman sees her OB/GYN regularly for check-ups and care, you are encouraged to regularly visit a men's health specialist for issues related to your reproductive system.
Your UC San Diego Health men's health specialist can detect disorders that are easily overlooked or misdiagnosed and develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
Some men's sexual or reproductive health issues can be signs of other conditions. By avoiding a late diagnosis, your men's health specialist can help you prevent common, preventable diseases, including heart attack, stroke, diabetes and loss of muscle and bone mass. Because we understand the male aging process, we can also help you maintain vitality at any age.
Do I Need a Referral for Care?
No. You can usually make an appointment with one of our men's health specialists directly without a referral. But if you have an HMO, your insurance plan may require a referral from your primary care physician.
Our Specialists
Areas of Expertise
Our clinic emphasizes lifestyle, disease prevention and patient education as a foundation for sexual and reproductive health at all stages of life. We offer advanced surgical procedures — including delicate microsurgeries, minimally invasive approaches and robotically assisted procedures — when conservative approaches do not resolve your condition or health concern.
Fertility Care
We collaborate closely with experts in all related fields — including urology, andrology and reproductive endocrinology (female fertility services) — to offer you and your partner comprehensive fertility care. We also have a high-complexity andrology lab on-site that's private and comfortable, offering semen analysis and other specialized tests for male infertility in one convenient location.
Sexual Health
Sexual health issues — such as erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, low libido (sex drive) and difficulty achieving orgasm — are common and treatable. Using the latest technology and treatments, your UC San Diego Health doctor will personalize a care plan that's best suited to your goals. We offer a wide variety of scientifically proven therapies, including medications, injections, low-intensity shockwave therapy and surgical implants.
We also have a unique program for female sexual dysfunction for female partners of our patients.
Treatment for Enlarged Prostate
With age, the prostate enlarges. This condition can cause several problems with urination, including frequent urination and a weak flow. If medications have not resolved your symptoms, you should see a urologist for in-depth evaluation and treatment. We offer many surgical and nonsurgical approaches for treating your enlarged prostate, including the UroLift system and Rezum therapy.
